Your entries are written into the link itself, so anyone you send it to can read them. We don’t keep a copy, and your results never leave this device.

Spin to pick a random country

The wheel holds every country in the world, 195 in all. Spin and it lands on one at random. The name under the pointer also shows below the wheel while it spins, since the slices are thin with so many countries on them.

Want fewer choices? Use the lists above the entries to spin one continent at a time:

List Countries
Africa 54
Asia 47
Europe 45
North America 23
South America 12
Oceania 14

You can also edit the list to make your own, like countries you’ve visited, countries in the World Cup, or a list of places on your travel shortlist.

Tip: Spinning for a class? Use full screen. The country under the pointer is also shown below the wheel, which helps when the slices are thin.

Ideas for a random country generator

Geography practice. Spin a country and find it on a map, name its capital, or say which continent it’s in. Teachers use the continent lists to focus on one region at a time.

Travel inspiration. Can’t decide where to go next? Narrow the wheel to the continents you can reach and spin for a destination to research.

Cooking challenge. Spin a country, then cook a dish from it this weekend. Spin again next week. It’s a fun way to try new food as a family.

Movie and music night. Spin a country and watch a film or listen to an album from there.

Trivia and games. Spin for a country and give your team 30 seconds to name its capital, flag colors, currency or language.

Pen pals and projects. Assign each student a random country for a report or a school fair booth. Remove each country after it’s picked so nobody doubles up.

How the list is put together

The wheel includes the 193 member states of the United Nations, plus Palestine and Vatican City, the two observer states. Names use common English short forms, like Czechia, Eswatini and Côte d’Ivoire. Territories and dependencies such as Greenland, Puerto Rico or Hong Kong are not included, but you can type them in.

Countries that cross continents are listed once: Russia under Europe, Turkey and the Caucasus under Asia, and Cyprus under Europe.

Fair results

Every country has the same chance on each spin. The result is picked by your browser’s secure random number generator, and the spin animation lands on it.
