An online Twister spinner that calls the moves

Lost the spinner, or tired of someone having to step off the mat to flick it? Spin here instead. The wheel has all sixteen moves, every limb with every color, and it reads each one out loud when it stops.

  1. Put your phone or laptop where everyone can hear it, off the mat.
  2. Choose a list: Classic for all sixteen moves, Hands only or Feet only for an easier game.
  3. Spin, and listen for the move: “Left hand yellow.”
  4. Turn on auto spin if nobody wants to leave the mat.

Auto spin: nobody has to referee

Pick Auto spin under the wheel, like every 10 or 15 seconds. Spin once to start. After each move, the result closes on its own and the next spin starts when the time runs out. A countdown under the wheel tells you how long you have. Shorter times make for a faster, wobblier game.

Tip: Start with every 15 seconds for kids or first-timers, then speed it up to every 8 seconds once people get the hang of it.

Classic Twister rules, quickly

  • Everyone starts with both feet on the mat at the edges.
  • On each spin, every player moves the called limb to a free circle of that color.
  • Two people can’t share a circle. If every circle of that color is taken, most groups just spin again.
  • You’re out if your knee or elbow touches the mat, or you fall over. Last player standing wins.

With one or two players and a referee, the referee can spin by hand instead. Spins are fair either way.

Variations

  • Hands only or feet only: an easier game for little kids, or a stretching break.
  • Freeze: after each move, hold still for five seconds before the next spin.
  • Remove a move: if a color runs out on your mat, choose Remove from wheel to take that move out of play.

About the name

Twister is a trademark of its owner. This is an unofficial spinner for playing at home, and we aren’t connected to the game’s makers. For more party games, try the dare wheel or truth or dare.

Questions people ask

Can the Twister spinner call out the moves?

Yes. Read aloud is on by default, so your device says each move, like Right foot green, when the wheel stops. Turn your volume up and keep the phone off the mat.

How does auto spin work?

Pick a time under the wheel, like every 10 seconds, then spin once. The wheel shows the move, closes the result by itself, and spins again when the time is up. Turn it off with the button under the wheel.

Are the odds the same as the real spinner?

Yes. There are 16 equal slices: four limbs times four colors. Each move has a one in sixteen chance, just like the cardboard spinner.

Can I play without a Twister mat?

Yes. Make a mat with colored paper or tape on the floor, in rows of red, blue, yellow and green. The spinner works the same.
