A number wheel from 1 to 20

Spin for a number from 1 to 20. Every number has exactly a 5% chance, the same as a twenty-sided die. The numbers are big enough to read on a projector, and the wheel lands with a satisfying slow finish.

Roll a d20

The d20 is the star of tabletop role-playing games. It decides whether you hit, persuade, sneak or fall flat on your face.

  • Ability checks and attacks: spin once and add your bonus.
  • Advantage: spin twice and take the higher result.
  • Disadvantage: spin twice and take the lower result.
  • Random tables: many adventures have twenty-entry tables for loot, weather or encounters. Spin for the row.

Tip: Playing online? Use full screen and share your screen so the whole party sees the roll land.

In the classroom

  • Call on students: a class of twenty, numbered on the roster. Spin, and remove each number once they’ve answered.
  • Twenty questions: spin for which question card to read next.
  • Spelling list: twenty words this week? Spin for the next word in the quiz.

Fair and random

Results come from your browser’s cryptographic random number generator and are picked before the wheel starts turning. For other dice, try 1 to 6, 1 to 12 or 1 to 100 for percentile rolls.

Questions people ask

Is this the same as rolling a d20?

The odds are the same. Each number from 1 to 20 has a 5% chance, just like a fair twenty-sided die. A natural 20 and a natural 1 each come up one time in twenty, on average.

How do I roll with advantage?

Spin twice and keep the higher number. For disadvantage, keep the lower one. The Results tab lists both spins so nobody can argue.

Can I pick a student from a class of 20?

Yes. Number your class list, spin, and choose Remove from wheel after each pick so nobody gets called twice.
