A random number from 1 to 8
Spin for a number from 1 to 8. Each one has a 12.5% chance, exactly one eighth of the wheel. Eight is the number of a lot of things that need sorting out fairly.
Brackets and tournaments
An eight-team bracket is the classic quarterfinal: four games, then two, then the final. Spin to set the seeds or the matchups.
- Write your eight teams or players on a list and number them.
- Spin and choose Remove from wheel. That team takes the first spot.
- Keep spinning until the wheel is empty. Pair spots 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and so on.
More ways to use 1 to 8
- Race lanes: a track or a pool often has eight lanes. Spin to assign them.
- Eight-player games: party games and racing games on a console often max out at eight. Spin for player order.
- d8 rolls: tabletop games use the eight-sided die for weapons and healing. Spin once per die.
- Group tables: eight tables at a workshop or a wedding? Spin to send each person to a table.
Tip: Running a bracket in front of a crowd? Use full screen so everyone can see each seed get drawn.
Fair draws
Results come from your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, chosen before the spin starts. Removing a number only changes which numbers are left, and each remaining number has an equal chance. For four teams, use 1 to 4. For a full bracket of sixteen, set To to 16 in the fields.
